MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — A mother and her boyfriend now face additional charges in the death of a 5-year-old girl in Monroe County last month.

Amanda Hendrickson, 33, and Roderick Buckner, 34, are each charged with one count of Felony Murder and one count of Aggravated Battery. These charges are in addition to the Felony Cruelty to Children charges each faces in the case.

Heaven Woods of Rome, Ga. was found dead on May 20 at a home in Forsyth, in Monroe County.

GBI spokeswoman Sherry Lang said an autopsy found that Heaven died from a blunt-force trauma to the abdomen. The child also had “multiple other injuries, new and old,” Lang said.

Lang also said Hendrickson had a “history” with the state Division of Family and Children Services in Floyd County. Lang would not describe that history, saying it was part of their investigation.

Corley said someone in the home called 911 to report an unresponsive child. Ambulance workers did CPR on the child, but she was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Forsyth Police Chief Keith Corley says the two suspects are being held at the Monroe County Justice Center.
